Framing the Future in Wood and Glass - Proudly serving the Mackay Region since 2024
Our Story
Nathaniel & Betty made the move from Mudgee NSW to Mackay nearly 2 years ago, and have loved every minute!
After winning National Apprentice of the Year award in 2023, Nathaniel was offered a job opportunity too good to turn down. He always knew he wanted to give back to the local community with his knowledge and skills of carpentry and glazing - so after careful planning and saving, he and Betty took the plunge and started a business.
We would like to thank all of our customers so far, you have played a huge part in making this all possible!

History
Growing up in a family-run glazing business, Nathaniel spent his early years learning the trade from the best—his dad. Weekends and school holidays were often spent on job sites, handing over tools, cleaning up glass scraps, and watching carefully as his father cut and installed glass with precision and pride.
At 17, Nathaniel officially joined as an apprentice. The early years were tough, filled with long hours, early mornings, and plenty of trial and error. But he soaked up every lesson—from mastering traditional glazing techniques to understanding customer service and the importance of craftsmanship.
After several years under his father's mentorship, Nathaniel began to take on more responsibility, eventually running his own jobs and training new apprentices. His passion for the trade, combined with a drive to modernize and grow, led him to start his own glazing business.

Achievements
- TAFE NSW Apprentice of the Year (2022)
- AGWA NSW State Apprentice of the Year (2023)
- AGWA National Apprentice of the Year (2023)
Winning the Apprentice of the Year award for glazing has been an incredible experience and a proud moment in Nathaniel's journey. Throughout his apprenticeship, he worked hard to learn the skills of the trade— from precision cutting to installations and everything in between. The support from mentors, teammates, and training organisation played a huge role in his development. Being recognised with this award is not just a personal achievement, but also a reflection of the dedication and passion he has put into glazing.

Nathaniel was selected by his class teachers to sit the Apprentice of the Year examination, from over 80 students of his graduating year, along with the 5 other high achieving candidates in an 8 hour capstone test including Theory, Calculations, Australian Standards and Practical. He not only achieved the highest mark overall but also received the highest mark in both theory and practical skills.
Nathaniel has shown an outstanding ability to be able to grasp skills and knowledge in relation to the glass industry. He excelled every task and assessment that was asked of him during the 2.5 years of his training at TAFE Western Sydney Institute.
Nathaniel also demonstrated high levels of team working skills in relation to his peers, working with teams in group exercises throughout his training. His commitment to WHS was exemplary, never was he needed to be reminded of wearing his PPE and never undertook a task without investigating the risk assessments or SOP's.
Nathaniel's passion for this industry was evident throughout the whole course, never missed a lesson and always eager to learn above and beyond what was delivered, including researching areas of study that were to be delivered the following lesson, he is a credit to both the industry and his employer.
